As we enter Samburu, the wildlife spectacle commences immediately. A brief game drive introduces you to the captivating creatures you've come to witness. This initial drive leads to your accommodation within the park, setting the stage for a more extensive afternoon game drive.

Samburu's distinctive landscape, adorned with riverine forests, offers a unique encounter not replicated elsewhere in your safari journey. Ashnil Samburu Camp is a luxury tented set in the spectacular backdrop drop of the Mighty Ol Olokwe Mountain fronting Ewaso Nyiro River.

The 30 exclusive luxury Tents are spread out along the shady banks of the river under a thick stand of Doum Palms.

It features an outdoor swimming pool surrounded by sun lounges, a garden and a Lounge bar offering views of the African savannah. Each tent features a decked Terrance with views of the Ewaso Nyiro River. The restaurant offers views of the river and serves a variety of menus comprising of Oriental, traditional and international cuisines.

Sarova Shaba Game Lodge

Sarova Shaba Game Lodge is located in a natural oasis in the heart of the Shaba Game Reserve or “Born Free Country” that Joy and George Adamson called home for many years.

The lodge is 314 km from Nairobi, a 45 minute flight from Nairobi to Shaba or Samburu airstrip or a picturesque 5 hour drive through the curving roads around Mt. Kenya crossing the equator at Nanyuki.

It is set along the bank of the Ewaso Nyiro River laid out around the natural springs that flow into the river. The Lodge has a virtual mini forest of indigenous trees, a fish pond and a large free form swimming pool

Full Day in Samburu National Reserve

Exiting Samburu, you'll bid farewell with a game drive towards the exit, setting the stage for your arrival at Aberdares National Park in time for lunch, followed by another engaging game drive.

The Ark overlooks a floodlit waterhole and salt lick, which attracts a host of awesome wildlife.

Resembling and named after Noah’s Ark, The Ark comprises of three decks from which numerous balconies and lounges provide a superb location for wildlife to be seen.

So that you don’t miss any animal sightings, the night guard will buzz your room when special animals come to the waterhole. The Ark has four viewing areas for observing the ever-present animal activity.

For those with afternoon flights from Nairobi, you'll leave Masai Mara early, arriving at the famous Carnivore restaurant in Nairobi for a gourmet lunch before heading to the airport.

If you have evening flights or a Nairobi hotel stay, you can enjoy a morning game drive, ending your journey with more Masai Mara exploration. Lunch at your accommodation precedes the journey to Nairobi, with arrival around 5-6pm. You can choose a drop-off at a hotel, residence, or the airport. This final safari day includes:

  • No accommodation (last day)
