Nairobi - Olpejeta Conservancy

Embark on your exciting safari adventure with an early start on the first day. We'll pick you up from your hotel, residence, or the international airport in Nairobi. The journey begins northward, passing by the magnificent Mount Kenya, the second highest mountain in Africa, and onto the Laikipia Plateau. This region is now known as Ol Pejeta, once a cattle ranch but transformed into a vital and privately-run wildlife conservation area. Prepare to encounter the renowned African big five during your time here:

Kicheche Lakipia Camp

An eco-award-winning small luxurious tented camp nestled in the shadows of Mount Kenya at the foot of an indigenous forest overlooking a waterhole. The camp’s squeaky green safari chic marries beautifully and sensitively with the natural highs of her surroundings in the wilderness zone of Ol Pejeta.

The camp consists of six luxurious custom-designed tents, all fully insect-proof with en-suite bathrooms equipped with a dresser, flushing toilet and hot showers. The tents are set around a waterhole which is a haven for resident wildlife. A family tent is also available which sleeps up to 4 guests.

Sweetwaters Serena Camp-Morani Wing Tent

With a magnificent backdrop of Mount Kenya, the recently constructed Morani Wing offers 17 luxurious tents suitable for double, twin, and triple occupancy. Among them, one tent is thoughtfully designed to cater to the needs of guests with mobility challenges. The bathrooms in these tents are equipped with a pair of hand washbasins, a toilet, and a shower enclosed by a glass door.

Olpejeta Conservancy - Aberdares National Park

(75 km – 1 to 2 hours)

Your day in the conservancy will kick off with a wholesome breakfast, setting the tone for an exciting morning exploring the chimpanzee sanctuary. Here, you'll gain insight into the operations of the institution founded by the renowned naturalist Jane Goodall, dedicated to rehabilitating our closest relatives.

In the afternoon, a brief drive will take you to Aberdare National Park, where a short game drive awaits, leading you to your chosen camp or lodge. Regardless of where you're staying, you're welcome to visit the Ark at Treetops Lodge. This unique structure boasts platforms built around a well-frequented watering hole, offering spectacular views of African wildlife drinking, playing, and even hunting their prey.
